Branding Redesign Responsive Web Design
Matilda Motel

The owners of Matilda Motel came to us with a bigger goal than a website refresh — they wanted a complete rebrand built to turn the business into a genuinely saleable asset, not just a fresh coat of paint. We built the brand out from the ground up, including large-scale branding for the physical property itself, and paired it with a photography-led portfolio drawn from the motel’s own rooms and grounds rather than stock imagery.

The site launched as a one-page, fully responsive build — room galleries, an embedded booking system, a destination showcase, testimonials and a tour-package spotlight, all resizing cleanly across phone and desktop. That last part mattered more than it might sound: mobile-responsive design was still new technology when this site went live, and Matilda Motel was ahead of most of its competitors in having a site that actually worked properly on a phone.

WHAT WE BUILT

What changed behind the front desk

Occupancy went from around three rooms regularly filled to nine to twelve, full through peak season. This is what did the work.

  • Booking System Integration

Guests choose their room type, bed size, upstairs or downstairs, parking and numbers, then pay upfront through PayPal. The room is locked the moment it's paid for, so no more double bookings and no more names crossed out of a paper diary.

  • Lead Capture

The booking link sits right next to the phone number. A guest who would have got voicemail books online instead, so a missed call is no longer a missed booking.

  • Custom CRM

Every guest is recorded as new or returning, with how often they stay, for how long, and whether it's peak or off-peak. Greg can see who his regulars are and when they tend to come back.

  • Room and Revenue Grid

The whole motel's occupancy at a glance, with no diary to flick through.

  • Marketing Emails

The guest journey runs on its own: a confirmation and welcome straight away, local eats and attractions two weeks out, and a note the night before that their room is ready. Nobody has to remember to send any of it.

  • Product Sales

Extras like the tour package can be sold alongside the room, and guests are offered a longer stay before they arrive.

  • Contact Forms

Questions that aren't bookings still have somewhere to go, and don't get lost.

  • WordPress

Room galleries, testimonials and the tour spotlight can be kept current without calling a developer.

  • Fully Responsive Website

The site worked properly on a phone before most of its competitors did, which matters when travellers are often booking from the road.
