eCommerce Redesign Web Design
Barlow Management

Barlow Management is a Bundaberg-based professional services consultancy run by John Barlow. We first built its site in 2010, then returned in 2012 for a full redesign as the business expanded into eCommerce — training materials, manuals and digital downloads sold directly through the site.

That expansion needed more than a shopfront. We built a custom CRM to manage leads and the ongoing client relationship, a membership site with book and training sales built in, and a full learning management system so clients could work through Barlow’s training material online rather than just downloading a PDF and hoping for the best. A bulk marketing system let John reach his client base directly, and the whole build carried through the same fully responsive, professional-services polish — kept in the Queensland colours John chose from day one, with a Case Study Portfolio section and blog added to keep the site current.

WHAT WE BUILT

What each part does for the business

  • Custom CRM

Every enquiry, sign-up and purchase lands in one place, tied to the person behind it. John can see who bought a manual but never started the course, who has gone quiet, and who is ready for the next step. Follow-ups and upsells go to the people they suit, rather than to everyone at once.

  • WordPress

The whole build sits on WordPress, so John can update pages, post to the blog and add new products without calling a developer. It also meant the shop, the membership area and the courses could all live in one system instead of several logins that don't talk to each other.

  • Contact Forms

Each form asks what John needs to know before a first conversation: what kind of business it is, what's not working, and how soon they want help. Enquiries arrive ready to act on and go straight into the CRM, not into an inbox where they can get buried.

  • Lead Capture

Sign-up points and free resources across the site turn a casual reader into a named contact. Someone who isn't ready to hire a consultant today still ends up on the list, and hears from John when they are.

  • Membership Site

Clients log in to their own area, with everything they've bought and the resources that go with it. The relationship has somewhere to live between consultations, and clients have a reason to keep coming back to the site.

  • Books and Training Sales

The books and manuals John had written used to be sold in person, one conversation at a time. An online shop means that work now sells while he's busy with other clients, or not working at all.

  • Learning Management System

Rather than downloading a PDF, clients work through the training module by module, at their own pace, with their progress saved. John can see who has finished and who has stalled, and the training became a proper product instead of a file.

  • Product Sales

Digital downloads are delivered the moment payment goes through, and everything else runs through a normal checkout. No invoices raised by hand, and no emailing attachments back and forth.

  • Bulk Marketing System

John can email his whole client base, or just one group within it, such as everyone who bought the structure manual, straight from the site. A new course or book reaches the people most likely to want it on the day it's published.

  • Fully Responsive Website

Business owners do a lot of their reading on a phone, in between everything else. The site, the shop and the course area all work properly on any screen, so nobody has to wait until they're at a desk to buy or keep learning.
